Are you an approved installer?
Yes, we are NSI Gold Approved since 1994. This is the highest accreditation level in the alarm industry.
I am interested in having an alarm or CCTV system installed, how would I progress with this?
The easiest way for you to arrange a surveyor to attend site and offer a free of charge, non-obligatory quotation, would be to call into the office on the number listed on the website. Alternatively, you can send us an email enquiry with your full name, address and contact information and we can contact you directly to arrange this.
Do you use sub-contractors?
No, all our engineers are directly employed by us and undergo rigorous vetting and background checks.
How can I identify your engineers?
All Croxley Alarm System engineers will be in sign written vehicles, they will be in uniform with the company name visible and their I.D Cards will be present.
If I purchase a system from Croxley Alarms, do I own the equipment?
Yes. You own the equipment outright.
If we progress with an installation, how much warranty is offered on the parts?
We provide a 12-month warranty on all new parts. If you extend the alarm maintenance agreement for a second year, we extend the warranty for an additional 12 months. (Maximum 2 Years Warranty)
I am interested in having an alarm system installed, but I have a pet, how will the alarm system cope with this?
We offer various solutions for pet owners. While there are no pet-proof sensors, there are pet-tolerable sensors depending on the animal and its behaviour. Alternatively, we can install perimeter-based devices or design the system with bespoke area sets to accommodate your pet.
If my alarm system activates and I am not home to silence it, how long will the external siren ring for?
The external siren will ring for 10-20 minutes depending on the system type.
Once I have an alarm installed by yourselves, why would I require continued maintenance of the system?
Continued maintenance ensures the system operates at its best and prevents small faults from developing. Most home insurance policies also require a maintenance agreement with an NSI-approved company.
Can spiders, cobwebs, flies, and insects trigger an alarm system?
Yes, they can cause false alarms if they get too close to the motion detection sensors. We recommend using spider repellent sprays and routinely cleaning the sensors and nearby walls with a soft dry cloth to reduce false alarms.
My alarm system is wireless, how often should the wireless batteries be replaced?
We recommend replacing the batteries annually during the service visit. We offer a 12-month warranty on wireless batteries that we supply (excluding sirens), so changing them yearly ensures you are covered.
Why don’t you offer 12-months warranty on wireless siren batteries?
If the siren rings continuously due to a false alarm or activation, it can drain the battery quickly. We cannot warranty a battery that might be drained from such potential misuse.
Is there anything I should do in preparation for the alarm system installation or the annual service appointments?
Yes. Ensure all areas around the alarm equipment are clear and accessible for the engineer. For example, remove items from an airing cupboard to allow access to the main control panel. If we can’t access the necessary areas, we may not be able to complete the installation or service on the chosen day.
I am currently having some building works and require some aspects of the alarm to be removed/isolated, how much notice do you require?
Inform us in writing, ideally via email, as soon as the sale/purchase is confirmed. Provide as much notice as possible.
If my alarm system is connected to the internet for app control, what should I do if my internet router gets changed?
Notify us of the change in advance so we can schedule an engineer to reconnect your alarm system to the new router. Alternatively, refer to your installation documentation for instructions on how to do it yourself using your code via the programming menus.
I have a monitored alarm system and need to change the selected key-holders, how would I go about this?
Submit the changes in writing, preferably by email. We will update our database and inform the alarm receiving centre of the changes.
I am considering selling my house, how and when should I notify you of this?
Inform us in writing, ideally via email, as soon as the sale/purchase is confirmed. Provide as much notice as possible.
How will my CCTV system respond In the event of a power cut?
